I am a software engineer who, a long time ago, became a UXer to help make useful products!

I love building systems as much as educating. I bring my experience of 27+ years in the software industry to my students everywhere.

I recently led the Consensys Platform Team's user research, which produced the open source AskO11y 'AI-powered observability assistant' Grafana plug-in.

In previous projects I have worked mostly in enterprise and finance environments, as well as in mobile telecoms and embedded systems.

I specialise in product discovery and UX measurement and I love both qualitative and quantitative user research as well as team coaching, requirements elicitation and the integration of UX research into software production. I must have conducted thousands of user sessions already.

Believe it or not I have a machine learning PhD as well as a computer communications MSc and BEng from the University of Essex. I am also a Certified Scrum Master (Scrum Alliance CSM) and hold a UX Master Certificate (in UX Research, Interaction Design, and Web Design) from Nielsen Norman Group.

In a previous life I was researching and building content recommender systems with ML, something that seems so current today.
